TOBi Premieres New Song 'Flowers' in 'COLORS' Session
Brampton, ON-raised star-on-the-rise TOBi certainly has a knack for debuting unreleased songs through A COLORS SHOW sessions. After sharing "Beige" — which would later end up on 2020's ELEMENTS Vol. 1 — in a 2019 instalment of the video performance series, he's back with another premiere: "Flowers."

Shirtless beneath a jade green puffer jacket (temperature regulation is key, although "Hoodie on in L.A. / I'm already hot," begs to differ), the artist offers an expressive rendition of the soulful new tune against a cyan backdrop.

TOBi described "Flowers" as a "very important song" in a tweet, revelling in the value of doing inner work to dismantle his own male privilege and questioning human nature in a heavy set of bars: "Why they wait to give you your flowers when you cannot smell? / And why they wait to lift you up when they your pallbearers?" For the most part, the vocal sample arrangement is sparse to let his prowess behind the mic shine, but it culminates in a lush orchestral flourish.

The singer-songwriter has already released a handful of singles throughout 2022, including "That's Alright." It seems like something may be a-brewing...

Fellow Canadians Haviah Mighty and Adria Kain have also recently hit the COLORS studio.
