Kodak Black Arrested at U.S. / Canada Border for Drug and Weapons Charges
Published Apr 18, 2019Kodak Black was arrested at the U.S./Canada border last night (April 17) for possessing marijuana and firearms.
According to the Associated Press, the rapper was stopped at the Lewiston-Queenston crossing around 7:20 p.m. EDT by New York state police. Black was driving with two other men in a Cadillac Escalade.
The men admitted to possessing drugs and a firearm, and police found marijuana on Black and a 9mm Glock in the vehicle.
The 21-year-old rapper was arrested on charges of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was arraigned in a local court and taken to county jail with bail set at $20,000 USD cash or $40,000 USD.
He was travelling between tour stops in Detroit (April 13) and Boston (April 17).
As a result of the border delay, Black's show was cancelled at the House of Blues in Boston.
According to Boston police, the last-minute cancellation provoked "generally unruly behaviour" outside the venue, where 200 people were waiting. One man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a security guard, while two people at the scene required medical attention.
It's unclear what the recent arrest means for the rapper's upcoming shows in the U.S., as well as Canadian dates next week in Montreal (April 22) and Toronto (April 23).
In addition to yesterday's arrest, Black also faces a charge of first-degree criminal sexual misconduct in South Carolina for the alleged rape of a woman at his concert in 2016.
