Watch Elon Musk Get Booed Mercilessly by Dave Chappelle's San Francisco Crowd
All the money in the world can't buy you arena-sized adoration
Published Dec 12, 2022In an exceptional start to the week for people with more money than brains, Elon Musk was invited onstage by comedian Dave Chappelle Sunday night and was roundly, righteously booed by the comedian's San Francisco crowd.
Chappelle, who was co-headlining the city's Chase Center with Chris Rock last night (December 11), clearly figured Musk — who hasn't slowed his thoroughly embarrassing Twitter takeover in the moments he isn't sleeping at company HQ — could use a night off, and what better way to relax than hopping on stage at an 18,000-seat arena?
As you'll glean from fan-shot footage below — which has emerged despite the performance being billed as a "phone-free event" by Ticketmaster — it was very much the opposite.
"Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world," Chappelle says to the crowd, who greet Musk with a mixture of cheers and boos. It isn't long before the boo birds win out and keep letting Musk have it, as he meanders about the stage entirely out of his element without a way to let his Twitter fingers do the talking.
"It sounds like some of the people you fired are in the audience," Chappelle cracked, going on to remark, "All these people who are booing, and I'm just pointing out the obvious, you have terrible seats."
The videos show how Chappelle continues telling pointed jokes to try and make the bit work, while Musk completely withers when under a light more powerful than the blue glow of his computer monitor. In short: Trent Reznor was right.
"His whole business model is 'fuck Earth, I'm leaving anyway,'" Chappelle — now fully the type of person he once made fun of — says before jokes about "anti-gravity titty bars" and sex with aliens. Each time Musk looks to speak, the chorus of boos rings out.
"Dave, what should I say?" a clearly flustered Musk asks the comedian. "Don't say nothing. It'll only spoil the moment," Chappelle responds, adding, "Do you hear that sound, Elon? That's the sound of pending civil unrest. I can't wait to see what store you decimate next, motherfucker."
Similarly to how he responded upon being lit up by high schoolers earlier this year, Chappelle pulls the "I'm better than you" card in looking to stake out high ground, attempting to argue that booing "is not the best thing you can do" after telling the crowd to "shut the fuck up."
This morning, Musk looked to brush off his reception on Twitter, writing of how he heard "90% cheers & 10% boos" in ultimately chalking it up to "SF's unhinged leftists" — in between posting about "the woke mind virus" and "Branch Covidians." What remains clearer than ever is that no amount of money can buy the love and adoration the terminally online billionaire appears to crave.
Technically, it was 90% cheers & 10% boos (except during quiet periods), but, still, that's a lot of boos, which is a first for me in real life (frequent on Twitter).— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 12, 2022
It's almost as if I've offended SF's unhinged leftists … but nahhh.
