Published Feb 28, 2012You may remember that, back in December, Toronto garage rockers Teenanger unveiled their sophomore album, Frights. At the time, they briefly shared the full album for a limited time, and now that the collection is coming out for real, the band are once again making the entire record available as a stream through Exclaim.ca.
With a bevy of blistering guitars and scorching rhythms accompanied by the brooding vocals of singer Alex Lekay, the band's sound recalls early Joy Division (when they were still more "punk" than "post-"), yet with a more modern punked-up edge. Combine that with song titles like "Cheaper Thrills," "Funeral March" and "Walking on Eggshells," and you've got one hell of a menacing album.
Teenanger have Canadian tour dates coming up in Toronto on March 1 at Sneaky Dee's and in London on March 2 at Call the Office. See their full schedule here.
Frights is due out today (February 28) through Telephone Explosion Records.
