New Fries Share New Single from 'Is the Idea of Us'
After taking a few years off from recording, Toronto experimental troupe New Fries returned with plans for a new album titled Is the Idea of Us back in April. Now, they've shared another single from the effort with "Arendt / Adler / Pulley Pulley Pulley Pulley."

Their sound remains as frenzied as ever on their latest teaser track, despite the recent exodus of synth player Ryan Carley. Likewise, the single offers more of New Fries' signature pulsating no-wave sound.

"Something about the women obscuring their gender and traditional roles (intentionally or otherwise) to do their work without interruption or expectation," they said of the new track in a statement. "Being contrarians, shrill. Seeking truth without taking care of emotions. Often their work is forensic, razor-sharp, and bright with clarity."

"Arendt / Adler / Pulley Pulley Pulley Pulley" follows the release of the record's lead single "Ploce," which arrived back in spring alongside an Amy Lockheart-animated music video.

Is the Idea of Us arrives August 7 via Telephone Explosion. The album was recorded by Carl Didur, formerly of U.S. Girls, in Toronto.

New Fries' most recent record was 2016's More.
