Mesa Luna "Church Garden"

Mesa Luna "Church Garden"
Following last year's debut 7-inch, mellow Vancouver electronic combo Mesa Luna have been slowly but surely building their catalogue. Having released loosies like "Sputnik" and "Waster" this spring, the duo have now premiered a single called "Church Garden."

The thumping drum loop that kicks off the track sounds a bit like it might build into a full-blown banger. Instead, the arrangement swells sleepily with melancholic croons and spacious, pillowy synth tones. The result is a dreamy dance track that's equal parts soothing and invigorating.

"'Church Garden' is an exploration of irrationality and self-destruction in the face of personal loss," Mesa Luna said in a statement. "Although the song is lyrically bleak, the outro's encompassing bass and glistening chords provide a catharsis that alludes to something beyond the despair…"

Hear it below. "Church Garden" will appear on Mesa Luna's upcoming Crux EP, due out later this year.
