Published Jun 11, 2013Injury-prone math metal maniacs the Dillinger Escape Plan are ailing once again and have opted to cancel a string of European dates in light of guitarist Ben Weinman recently breaking his hand.
The band confirmed today (June 11) that they'd pulled out of the overseas trip because of an injury to Weinman's right hand and wrist. The six-stringer posted pics of the damage last week.
"I'm heartbroken that we will miss these shows because we were all looking forward to them a great deal," Weinman said in a statement. "Obviously nobody likes being injured. I'm looking forward to performing on Summer Slaughter at full capacity and we will be back in Europe this fall on our headlining tour."
Though the New Jersey crew played last weekend's Orion Music + More festival in Detroit as a truncated quartet, the band will take some time off this month to let their buddy heal properly.
"Leaving for tour knowing that we would be performing without all members on stage isn't something any of us are comfortable with," vocalist Greg Puciato explained.
While the news is unfortunate for European fans, the Dillinger Escape Plan are still scheduled to headline the Summer Slaughter tour, which hits up Montreal and Toronto in August. Other acts on the package tour include Cattle Decapitation, Aeon, the Ocean, Animals as Leaders, Norma Jean, Periphery and Revocation.
