Published Jan 03, 2019Late last year, astrophysicist and television personality Neil deGrasse Tyson was accused of sexual misconduct from four different women. As a result of the controversy, the National Geographic Channel has pulled his series off the air.
According to Variety, NatGeo has put StarTalk on hold while it investigates the allegations lodged against Tyson.
"In order to allow the investigation to occur unimpeded we chose to hold new episodes of StarTalk until it is complete," a Nat Geo rep said. "We expect that to happen in the next few weeks at which time we'll make a final decision."
The show had returned for its fifth season in November and had aired three of its 20 episodes when Tyson was accused of sexual misconduct ranging from alleged groping to alleged rape.
Tyson released a lengthy statement responding to the accusations. "I'm the accused, so why believe anything I say?" he wrote. "Why believe me at all?"
He has not been formally charged surrounding any of the allegations.
