Published Feb 16, 2016It's probably a good thing that Michael Moore's not a fan of capitalism, because his latest documentary Where to Invade Next is tanking at the box office.
The film opened in America over the weekend and took in a measly $897,034 — an average of $2,912 per location where it screened. Apparently couples didn't want to spend their Valentine's Day watching Moore deliver his zany sociopolitical rhetoric.
Those numbers make Where to Invade Next Moore's biggest flop yet. Perhaps there are other factors at play, too — Moore had to cancel his promotional tour when he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
That said, he could've made better decisions about the film's release. As the Guardian reports, there are rumours that Moore turned down a Netflix deal in order to get his film in as many theatres as possible.
