'Chicken Run' Voice Actor Accuses Aardman of Ageism After Being Cut from Sequel
First, the good news: they're apparently making a sequel to the delightful stop-motion film Chicken Run, which came out 20 years ago in the year 2000. But the movie is, uh, ruffling some feathers after an original lead voice actor was recast.

Julia Sawalha, who voiced Ginger in the original Aardam Animations film, has accused producers of ageism in a new open letter. She was recast, being told that her voice now sounds "too old" to voice the character. In the letter, Sawalha insists that she did a voice test and proved to a producer of the film that her voice was not older in any way.

Divisive figure Mel Gibson is also being recast under the excuse that his voice is too old, although one can't help but wonder if it's actually due to his ongoing public controversies

Chicken Run 2 is set to go into production next year. You can read Julia Sawalha's statement about the film below.
